Towards a more resilient economy: the impact of DOMSPAIN and REDESSA in the COOPSKILLS Project within the context of Reus

The twin transition – green and digital – is not merely a matter of new software or photovoltaic panels; it is a challenge that centers on people.

In Spain, the COOPSKILLS project is turning this transition into action. By combining DomSpain’s expertise as a VET provider with Redessa’s role as a local public authority, we are building a powerful private-public synergy that is reshaping how Reus and the Camp de Tarragona region approach professional upskilling and reskilling.

Uniting public vision and private expertise

European data warns us that nearly half of the workforce will require deep retraining by 2030. In this context, the COOPSKILLS project focuses on building a bridge between real market needs and the educational offer. Specifically, within the Spanish framework:

  • DomSpain transforms these needs into practical pathways. Drawing on its expertise in innovative training, it coordinates the methodological aspects to ensure that training itineraries are agile, digital, and sustainability-oriented.
  • Redessa, in its role as a driver of local economic development, acts as the glue between institutions and the business fabric. Through the signing of Memorandums of Understanding, it is formalizing a network of public and private actors ready to invest in human capital.

Reskilling Labs: the heart of innovation

Following the model promoted by COOPSKILLS, the Spanish context comes to life through the Reskilling Labs. These are not simple classrooms, but co-creation spaces where local companies can analyse their skill gaps alongside experts and trainers. Within these labs, solutions are designed for the challenges that hit SMEs hardest: from the digitalization of production processes to the adoption of circular economy models.

Comprehensive support for local SMEs

We know that small and medium-sized enterprises are the backbone of the Spanish economy, yet they are often the ones that struggle most to access high-quality training. The joint action of DomSpain and Redessa aims precisely to democratize this access. Through constant mapping of the local labour market, the project ensures that COOPSKILLS resources – such as methodological guides and training modules – reach those who need them most.

A commitment beyond the project

Investing in upskilling and reskilling through COOPSKILLS means preparing the territory for a future where automation and digitalization are not threats, but opportunities. For DomSpain and Redessa, participation in this European consortium is a strategic choice: positioning the region as a hub of excellence where innovation goes hand in hand with human growth.

The green and digital transition can only be won if no one is left behind, and the tools to achieve this are now a reality thanks to the European teamwork of COOPSKILLS.
